Longshan Temple

One of my favorite parts of visiting Taipei with my parents was our trip to 龍山 Temple. I love seeing the temples that are sprinkled throughout Taiwan, sometimes in unexpected places (like the one that is tucked behind a juice stand in the San Min Market), but this one really grabbed me for some reason. Perhaps it was something about being caught in the throng of devotees coming to make offerings and prayers for the new year. Perhaps it was the sights and sounds and smells. I was also really drawn to how alive this temple felt, how vibrant it seemed in comparison to many temples I see which seem to sit empty and forlorn.
